Day 1 – Arrive Anchorage
Today arrive in Anchorage. On arrival, claim your luggage in the baggage claim area. A courtesy transfer is included to your hotel. Upon arriving at the hotel, a key packet including a Welcome Letter will be waiting at the front desk.
Your Tour Director will be on hand to assist with all aspects of your tour enjoyment.
Day 2 – Tour Anchorage to Valdez
Enjoy an included breakfast at the hotel this morning. After breakfast travel via exclusive motorcoach to Valdez, the southern terminus of the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline and port for the departing oil tankers. The motorcoach will travel through the Matanuska-Susitna Valley where the 24 hours of summer daylight produces giant vegetables. A lunch stop (on your own today) and photo stops will be made en route. Evening arrival into Valdez, a port community often referred to as “Alaska’s Little Switzerland.” Exact departure time will be given to you by your escort.
Tonight you will enjoy a Welcome Reception. Enjoy an evening reception with your Tour Director and traveling companions.

Day 3 – Prince William Sound Sightseeing Cruise
Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. After breakfast you have time to explore the city. Entrance to the Valdez Museum is included.
Later today enjoy a cruise into the Prince William Sound and explore the face of the Columbia Glacier. On board this 80 mile glacier and wildlife tour, you will have a chance to view the Sound’s wildlife: whales, sea otters, harbor seals, and birds. Learn about the mining, oil, earthquake, and fishing history. Hear stories about the first people to explore and live in the Sound. On board a light meal is served.

Day 4 – Valdez to Fairbanks
Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. After breakfast depart for the scenic sightseeing on the Richardson Highway from Valdez to Fairbanks. The route takes us along the Trans-Alaska Pipeline that runs 800 miles from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez and along the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, the largest park in the United States. There are several exciting stops planned for the journey today including Rika’s Roadhouse, a historical roadhouse that features history in a picturesque setting.
One of the featured stops today is the Wrangell St. Elias National Park Visitor’s Center. Here enjoy the exhibits, view the park film, and view the large 3-D interactive map display.

Day 5 – Fairbanks Riverboat Discovery Cruise
Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Your morning is free to explore Fairbanks on your own.
This afternoon cruise on the Chena River aboard a stern-wheeler and experience the thrill of river travel. Be immersed in frontier living with a visit to a replicated Athabascan Indian Village, an introduction to the sled dogs at Trailbreaker Kennels, a fish wheel demonstration and more.
Day 6 – Fairbanks to Denali National Park
Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Depart by motorcoach from Fairbanks to Denali National Park through the Tanana River Valley. Travel through the river community of Nenana to learn about the Nenana Ice Classic, Alaska’s only legalized form of gambling.
The afternoon is free to explore the Park. Enjoy exploring this pristine area at your leisure by either participating in a complimentary park service activity or optional tour. There are many to choose from including mild or wild river rafting, flight seeing over the Alaska Range (home to Mt. Denali), a jet boat safari on the Nenana River or a visit to the award winning dog kennels of Iditarod Champion, Jeff King.
Day 7 – Denali National Park Sightseeing
A continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Then it is off to explore Denali National Park. The Park Tour will travel into Denali National Park along the Park Road. En route, you may catch sight of Denali, North America’s highest mountain. Throughout your adventure, you’ll witness incredible scenery and enjoy a narrated history of the park road, keeping an eye out for animals that call this place home such as grizzly bear, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep. A small snack and hot beverage are included in the tour. Your Tour Director will inform you of the exact departure time.
The afternoon is free to explore the Park at your own pace.

Day 8 – Denali National Park to Anchorage
A continental breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. Next board a motorcoach and tour south from the park to Talkeetna, a quaint historic village nestled at the confluence of three glacially fed rivers. The village’s name derives from the Athabaskan word for “river of plenty.” It is also the inspiration city for the community depicted in Northern Exposure, the television series.
Here a Talkeetna board Deluxe Dome rail car for the journey from Talkeetna to Anchorage. Keep your eyes open for Alaska wildlife roaming the pristine landscape. Mountains, rivers, lakes, flora and fauna make the trip scenic and enjoyable. Your on board guide will keep you informed of the local history and share tales of the north.
Upon arrival you are transferred to your hotel.

Day 9 – Anchorage Sightseeing and Farewell Dinner
Breakfast is included today. The morning is free to enjoy some leisure time.
Later tour Anchorage and discover the historical downtown including Lake Hood / Lake Spenard, the busiest float plane base in the world. The tour will include a stop at the Alaska Native Heritage Center.
The Alaska Native Heritage Center is an exciting place where all people can come to expand their understanding of Alaska’s first people. Learn the ability of these people to sustain themselves from available resources. Watch Native artists create tools of the past. Explore each Native culture’s way of providing and sharing. Discover the ways of yesterday while touring the five authentic Native Village sites.
