Day 1 – Anchorage
Welcome to the 49th state! We know you will enjoy your journey with us and are confident you will depart with new friendships and lasting memories. Luggage tags for this trip will be provided upon arrival and we ask that you attach these when you receive them. When your flight arrives, a representative will greet you in the baggage claim area and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 – Anchorage to Seward
Breakfast is included this morning at the hotel. The this morning of Alaska’s largest city will take you to the historic downtown area as well as Lake Hood/Lake Spenard which is the busiest float plane base in the world. Included with your tour is a visit to the Anchorage Museum, a world-class museum which seeks to preserve, exhibit, and interpret the art and history of Alaska.This afternoon your journey continues as you head south to Seward through the Chugach National Forest and along the scenic Turnagain Arm. The Seward Highway was designated an “All-American Road & Scenic Byway” by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation in 2000.Tonight enjoy dinner at an Alaskan restaurant featuring fresh Alaska cuisine. (Breakfast and Dinner included)
Day 3 – Seward exploration and Kenai Fjords Tour
After breakfast (included) depart on a cruise into Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park. Experience the Alaska wilderness by viewing the abundant wildlife and spectacular glaciers on board a high speed catamaran. A light lunch is included on board which consists of a chicken Caesar wrap, baby carrots, granola bar and freshly baked chocolate chip cookie.After you returned this afternoon you will have free time to explore the lovely town of Seward. (Breakfast included)
Day 4 – Seward to Denali National Park Sightseeing
After breakfast this morning (included) board the motorcoach for a journey north to Denali National Park. The route takes you along the scenic Parks Highway where you will make several stops along the way.A brief stop at the Palmer Visitor Center located in the rustic log cabin in downtown Palmer to browse the information center. Take a stroll through the adjoining “Agricultural Showcase,” a colorful garden of beautiful flowers and produce.
Day 5 – Denali National Park Sightseeing
This morning after breakfast travel deep into Denali National Park on this narrated five to seven hour tour keeping an eye out for animals that call this place home such as grizzly bear, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep. Take in the breath taking surrounding scenery. A snack lunch is included in the tour. The Alaska Mountain Range rises over 20,000 feet and runs through Denali National Park. Its grandest mountain, Mt. McKinley, stands 20,320 feet above sea level and is the highest peak in North America. Your Tour Director will inform you of the exact departure time.The afternoon is free for exploring this pristine area at your leisure by either participating in a complimentary park service activity or optional tour.
Day 6 – Denali National Park to Talkeetna
This morning after breakfast you have time to explore the Park.
This afternoon, ride the rails north on the Deluxe Dome rail car to Denali. Watch for views of Mt. Denali and animals roaming the wild backcountry all from the comfort of your Deluxe Dome Railcar. It takes about four hours to travel the 150 miles north from Talkeetna to Denali National Park. Food items and a variety of beverages are available for purchase on board.
Day 7 – Talkeetna to Anchorage and Farewell Dinner
This morning after breakfast, you will have time to explore the wonderful town of Talkeetna. This was the town that that was copied for the hit show Northern Exposure. Later you travel by motorcoach south to Anchorage. As you travel alongside the Alaska Range, be on the lookout for wildlife and, weather permitting, a chance to see Mt. Denali (formerly Mt. McKinley). There will be several stops along the way, including stops for photo opportunities. A stop will be made at the Iditarod Headquarters is a great way to learn about “The Last Great Race” which is over 1,150 miles long. Head into the museum to view trophies and photographs and don’t forget to check out the gift shop. If time allows, experience the Iditarod by viewing the videos of actual footage along the Iditarod trail. Dinner is included at a local restaurant this evening where you can share stories with your fellow travelers about your marvelous adventure in the Great Land.
Day 8 – Anchorage
Today your tour ends with a transfer to the Anchorage Airport for your flight home . (B)
