Day 1 – Seattle to Leavenworth

Meet your Tour Director at Seattle King Street Station in the afternoon (3:30 pm) to board the Amtrak Empire Builder. As you leave Seattle, sit back and enjoy the views of Puget Sound, the Cascade Mountains, and Wenatchee National Forest before evening arrival in the Bavarian mountain town of Leavenworth for two nights. (Dinner included.)

Day 2 – Leavenworth, WA

Enjoy a morning walk exploring the charming Bavarian town of Leavenworth, the outlying river valley, and nearby trails. The rest of the day is yours to do what you please. In the evening, join us for a festive reception featuring authentic cuisine and ale. (Breakfast and a reception included.)

Day 3 – Leavenworth to Walla Walla

This morning board your coach to explore the dramatic Columbia River Basin. Orchards and vineyards complete the expansive views as we travel into the heart of the wine country. You’ll enjoy a delightful lunch at one of the Red Mountain AVA great wineries. After a scenic drive to Walla Walla, our day will finish with a brief walking tour of the town before checking in to the hotel for two nights. The evening is yours to explore the many dining options in town. (Breakfast and lunch included.)

Day 4 – Walla Walla

In the morning learn about the lifestyles, traditions, and crafts of the regions residents including Native Americans, the Lewis and Clark expedition, and Oregon Trail Pioneers with a visit to the Ft. Walla Walla Museum. The rest of the day is yours to do what you please. You can choose from an optional excursion or may decide to spend your day exploring, shopping, or visiting the numerous tasting rooms and art galleries in town. Whatever you do, you will want to be back in time for a special dinner. (Breakfast and dinner included.)

Day 5 – Walla Walla to Portland

This morning we will meander country roads and farmlands before heading to Pendleton Oregon, home of the world-famous Round-Up and Woolen Mill. From there, we will make our way back to Portland along the scenic Columbia River Gorge with a few stops before checking in to the hotel in the early evening for two nights. Dinner is on your own and in Portland that means anything from food trucks to fine dining. (Breakfast and lunch included.)

Day 6 – Portland

After breakfast, join us for a walking tour of Portland, the City of Roses. The rest of the day is yours. You can choose from an optional tour, or you may decide to spend your day at Powell’s Book Store, exploring various neighborhoods while riding the MAX train, visiting the numerous museums or breweries in town, tax-free sales shopping, or a combination of all! However you spend your day, we hope you will find time to join us for a reception in the early evening. (Breakfast and reception included.)

Day 7 – Portland to Seattle and journey ends

In the morning, we will board the Amtrak for our trip back to Seattle. In the shadow of volcanoes, we take in the sights of Western Washington before we meet up again with the Puget Sound. We pass through several towns such as Centralia, Olympia, and Tacoma before arriving in Seattle King Street Station in the early afternoon. Here your journey concludes. (Breakfast and lunch included.)
