Annette and Laura aren’t just sisters and proud first-generation Alaskans with a lifetime of wild stories—they also share one job in Alaska’s travel industry. As job share partners, they split the responsibilities of a full-time position, allowing each of them to stay active in the work they love while having the flexibility to enjoy time with their growing families. Growing up in Alaska meant adventures like jumping into the icy Arctic Ocean in Utqiaġvik (Barrow) and learning to swim the old-fashioned way—being tossed off a boat in Prince William Sound by their uncle with a shout of “Swim!” (It was the ’70s—no life jackets, no problem.) With over 40 years of combined experience, they’ve dedicated their careers to helping others discover the wonders of their home state. And now, with seven third-generation Alaskans between them, their job-sharing setup gives them the best of both worlds: sharing the beauty of Alaska with travelers while embracing life at home with the people they love most.
