This vacation follows the trail of gold through Alaska and the Yukon. Start in Fairbanks, and after visiting Denali, you see the towns of Juneau, Skagway, and Dawson. You travel the White Pass via rail along one of the treacherous routes to the gold of Dawson.

Day 1 – Fairbanks

Arrive today and transfer to your hotel included.

Day 2 – Fairbanks

Today you will see all Fairbanks has to offer. Start the day with a tour of the El Dorado Gold Mine and Gold Dredge No.8. Ride the Tanana Valley Railroad for an adventure into the gold fields of the Interior. A two-hour guided tour takes you through a permafrost tunnel where Alaska’s history comes alive. Visit Gold Dredge No. 8, a historic dredge used to mine the valley. You will learn about the rich gold history of the area.

Travel to Discovery Landing for lunch (included), before boarding the Riverboat Discovery for a three-hour cruise which will take you into the heart of Alaska by a family who has made the rivers of Alaska a way of life. You will see a bush plane taking off on a “bush” style-runway, visit the home and kennels of the late four-time Iditarod winner Susan Butcher, and gain insight in the ancient Athabascan Indian culture. Day 3 – Fairbanks/Denali National Park

Transfer to the rail depot this morning and depart on luxury dome railcars for a scenic trip to Denali National Park. Arrive in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel.

Day 4 – Tundra Wilderness Tour and Tour Options

Today enjoy the Tundra Wilderness Tour (5-6 hours) which travels 43 miles into the Park. Click here for more Park tour options.

Day 5 – Denali to Anchorage

Luxury Dome Rail to Anchorage.

Day 6 – Anchorage/Juneau Gold Panning

This morning fly to Juneau, capital city of Alaska. Transfer to your hotel for the evening.

This afternoon you will learn Juneau’s colorful mining heritage for yourself. Head out with a prospector/guide on this historical tour of Juneau en route to “Last Chance Basin”. Here you will pan to add to your gold collection.

Day 7 – Juneau, Skagway to Whitehorse

Today fly the beautiful Lynn Canal to Skagway. On arrival in Skagway, you will have time explore, before you board the White Pass Railway for the trip up the White Pass to Fraser, B.C. Here you will board your motorcoach for the scenic trip by Tutshi Lake, Carcross on to Whitehorse.

Day 8 – Whitehorse to Dawson City

On tour today you will travel beside the Yukon river on the famed Klondike Highway. Enjoy views of the mighty Yukon River enroute to the heart of one of the greatest gold rushes ever.

Day 9 – Dawson City Exploration

Today is yours to explore many of the aspects of the city. Parks Canada will have many options available to you.

Day 10 – Dawson to Whitehorse

Today you fly from Dawson to Whitehorse. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel. Free time to explore Whitehorse.

Day 11 – Whitehorse to Skagway

You depart Whitehorse by coach sightseeing along the Klondike Highway to Fraser B.C. Upon arrival you will transfer to the White Pass Railway for your scenic journey down the White Pass to Skagway. Here you will pass Dead Horse Gulch, learn about the hardships of the climb to the top and ride one of the last narrow-gauge railroads operating today. On arrival you will have the afternoon free.

Day 12 – Skagway to Juneau

Morning free to explore Skagway. This afternoon fly, back to Juneau. On arrival transfer to your hotel.

Day 13 – Tracy Arm Tracy Arm Cruise

On your full-day cruise you will travel to one of the treasures of Southeast Alaska, Tracy Arm Fjord. The cruise is a wonderful exposure to the Inside Passage and the natural beauty of Tracy Arm.

Day 14 – Juneau

Depart for home today.
